Ortrud ‘Tutti’ Hauptli grew up in Germany and during an art class in school was introduced to a delicate and unique artform called Batik. Once in the United States she developed her own small niche in the art world. Batik is an ancient artfrom, originating in the far eastern countries of Indonesia and India. It is a wax-resist process, utilizing hot wax and fiber dyes on fabrics such as cottons and silk.
